Collect anything, and find it by what it shows

A home on your Mac for the images, videos, audio, documents and links you collect. Act looks at and reads everything with models on your Mac, so a few words find the picture, the page or the moment in a video.

  • Every model runs on your Mac: no upload, no account
  • Images, video, audio, PDFs, documents and links
  • Pricing announced at launch

Features

Collect your media, and find it again

Collect

⌃⌥⌘A

Drop it in, paste it, or capture it

Drag files and folders in from Finder or your browser, paste images, files, links and text, or press ⌃⌥⌘A for the quick collect panel from any app. Take a screenshot of an area or a window straight into the library.

  • Folders you import keep their structure, as folders in the library
  • The same file twice? Act asks: keep both, use the one you have, or skip
  • Copy files into the library, or leave them where they are and let Act follow them

Organise

Folders, tags and smart folders

Nest folders, put an item in several of them, and tag with suggestions as you type (pinyin too). Rate, add notes and keep the source link. Smart folders gather items by rules: tags, type, colour, size, length, dates, rating and more.

  • Rename a batch from a template: name, number, date
  • Mark an area of a picture or a moment in a video with a note
  • Deleted items wait in the trash

Browse and preview

Every format, previewed in place

A grid, justified rows, a waterfall or a list, from a few to tens of thousands of items. Press Space to preview images (HEIC, RAW and PSD too), SVG, video, audio with its waveform, PDFs, spreadsheets, Office and iWork files, Markdown and code.

AI on your Mac

Tags it suggests, never forces

Act suggests tags from your own vocabulary and the folder an item belongs in; nothing changes until you accept it. An optional image-understanding pack adds a title, a description and a file name. The basic pack is about 1.2 GB, and everything runs on your Mac.

Duplicates

Duplicates and look-alikes, merged

Identical files are found by their content, and pictures that only look alike (a smaller copy, a re-save) by what they show. Merge them and keep every tag, folder and note.

Built-in tools

Tools that keep the original

Compress and convert images (JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF), resize, crop with the subject in frame, remove a background, compress and trim video, make a GIF, extract the audio or a frame. Results are saved as a new version; the original stays.

From Eagle

Move your Eagle library over

Import an Eagle library with its folders, tags, ratings, notes, sources, annotations and smart folders, and import again later to bring over what changed.

FAQ

Questions

It understands what is in your files: search finds pictures by what they show and the moment in a video by what is said, with models on your Mac and no API key. It is a native app, and a library holds tens of thousands of items without slowing down. Your Eagle library imports in one go.
